The NSW Workers Compensation System

11-06-2019    |    Resource   |   Steve Groves

Under the Workers Compensation Act 1987, injured workers are entitled to a range of compensation payments.

These benefits include:

1. Lump sum payments to compensate workers for permanent impairments;

2. Weekly payments of compensation while off work;

3. The cost of medical treatment; and

4. The cost of domestic assistance.

For example, a worker who has suffered a back injury while lifting at work may be entitled to a tax-free lump sum payment, in addition to his or her other benefits, as a result of this back injury.
