Rachael Abercrombie looks after a wide range of family law issues for our clients including separation and divorce, de-facto relationship breakdowns and property settlements.
Friendly and approachable, Rachael is a clear and effective communicator who puts clients at ease immediately. She believes in keeping her clients well-informed and takes great care to explain the processes involved and what they can expect at each step of the way.
You’re in good hands…
Rachael has expertise across all aspects of family law including considerable experience in matters concerning children's issues and parenting arrangements. She is on both the Legal Aid Commission’s panel of Family Lawyers and the panel of Independent Children’s Lawyers. As a child of separated parents, she knows firsthand what it is like for children during a family breakdown and is committed to minimising the potential stress and trauma experienced by children following their parent’s separation.
In addition to her passion for helping children through the family law system, Rachael also acts on behalf of clients who are the subject of Financial Management Orders and represents the NSW Trustee and Guardian in this role. She takes great pride in aspect of her work and feels that it is particularly important for such vulnerable people to have their family law rights protected.
Whilst being a determined and highly skilled litigator who can successfully represent her clients in matters before the Court, wherever possible Rachael focusses on helping her clients to resolve their disputes through mediation and negotiation, without the need for expensive, and often lengthy, Court action.
As a trained Collaborative Family Lawyer, Rachael can guide clients through this alternative method of resolving Family Law matters that allows separated couples to reach an agreement through direct negotiation between the parties involved and their legal representatives.
Her understanding of the process and her ability to effectively resolve family disputes is highly regarded. Rachael is currently taking a leave of absence from her position at Lamrocks to work as a Judicial Registrar with the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (FCFCOA). In this role she is focussing specifically on dispute resolution for both property and parenting matters, facilitating discussions and assisting parties to resolve their own disputes – providing a pathway for them to exit the litigation process and avoid going to trial.
